Children are the future of any community and nation. It is the responsibility of every human to help bring forward a better future for their community so their children can have a better life. That life needs to be protected at the individual and community level.
There are many African-Canadians who understood this responsibility who raised their voices to help the children or “young flowers” in our community, symbolic of a garden, develop into responsible adults. Some of those heroes are featured in this poster, such as politician Dr. Daurene Lewis, Governor Sir James Douglas, politician Jean Augustine, and explorer Mattieu DaCosta.
